Staches & Spokes
Saturday August 6, 2011

Gentlemen start your 'staches!!! Come and enjoy some of Gerard's paella, along with sipping on some Lagunitas beer, listening to Mr.December, while watching some talented and daring guys spin around in the Whiskeydrome. Sure to be a great time!!!

'Staches & Spokes is an event happening on Saturday August 6th, on the top floor of the 5th Street parking garage in downtown Santa Rosa. This is a community event celebrating the art of the bicycle through various creations including a velodrome, the soon to be world famous Whiskeydrome, fine art, mixed media, photography, and food vendors whose businesses are bicycle-related. Along with the celebration of the art of the bicycle we will be hosting a mustache competition, as we have done privately for the past 10 years. People will be encouraged to ride their bikes to the event and have their bikes parked safely, compliments of the Santa Rosa Bicycle Coalition. Once on top of the garage people will be able to have their photo taken on a bicycle themed set, walk around and enjoy various displays from local artists, listen to music and enjoy food, beer and wine. The mustache competition builds throughout the day as people vote for their favorites and culminates in a grand announcement of achievement awards and winners. The event is supporting two local programs, Santa Rosa's Artstart and Chop's teen club.
This event is free and open to the public.

Argonaut
April 24, 2008
www.jeffericksonstudio.com

Artist Jeff Erickson created an outdoor installation in the high desert outside of Reno Nevada which was viewed over two nights. On April 24, he installed a documentation of this experience in the desert at Grayspace.

"Erickson's Argonaut is art in the purest sense: a clear but subtle and beautiful experience wrenched from a heartfelt, soulful journey created in a personal language that has the power to touch us all. Its presentation in the sage of our desolate, desert landscape, a glowing surprise offering solace and comfort where there had previously been only a fearful unknown." -Cherie Turner
